ALSafe Program Encourages Safety for Alabama Department of Transportation Employees

The ALSafe (pronouced all-safe) brand is utilized specifically for ALDOT Work Zone Safety culture training and certification courses in addition to other internal efforts to strengthen ALDOT’s culture of safety by encouraging employees to “Go the Extra Mile for Safety.”

We worked with the same style of the informal ALDOT wordmark, which was developed to be used in print and online marketing and advertising materials where a linear format works best and in cases where the ALDOT seal would not be legible.

We chose to add the bright orange bar to visually relate to safety. Compared to other colors, “Safety Orange” is more easily visible to the human eye, and is commonly used throughout the world to improve safety in construction areas. Having optional vertical and horizontal layouts makes it easier for the logo to be used in various applications.

The safety campaign brought about many possible opportunities to use the logo throughout the ALDOT world, from banners and stickers to wearables and safety gear. We also developed a possible armadillo mascot that could be used in various settings such as bobbleheads and giveaways.
